Mancini sent out a pair of young attackers who repaid him in a big way by scoring 5 goals.
The Azzurri scored 5 times with a brace from Kean, and then an own goal and goals from Raspadori and Di Lorenzo: and now thanks to Switzerland's draw in Northern Ireland they are back to plus 6 over the Swiss with two games in hand.
Without their starting attack, the Azzurri did what they had failed to do against Bulgaria and Switzerland: goals. They scored five, enough to bring the goal difference to +11 and close an international break that had started in the wrong way. In fact, at the Mapei Stadium, after half an hour of play, the Azzurri were already 4-0 up.
Italy got off to a good start, scoring their first goal in the 11th minute with Kean, who was good at finishing off an involuntary assist from Novikovas with his right foot. Three minutes later, they doubled their lead with an own goal by Utkus on a shot from Raspadori. The number 9 managed to score in the 24th minute on a short rebound from the Lithuanian defense. Italy had fun with the youngsters and scored the 4-0 in the 29th minute with a brace from Kean, volleying in a pass from Bernardeschi.
In the second half, Sirigu and Calabria come on, Donnarumma and Biraghi go out. Italy continues to lead the game and gets the 5-0 in the 54th minute with Di Lorenzo thanks to a cross-shot that ends up behind Setkus. Roberto Mancini continues with the substitutions and in the 61st minute Jorginho and Bernardeschi leave the place to Castrovilli and Scamacca. In the 73rd minute, applause for the exit of Kean, in comes Berardi. Trident homage to Sassuolo in 'his' Reggio Emilia.
Castrovilli tries in the 84th minute, but the post denies him the goal. The final 5-0 gives Mancini's team their 37th consecutive useful result, an all-time world record now beyond any dispute. The next match for Mancini's team will be at home against Switzerland on November 12.
