Mayoral candidate Maurizio Cinque was busy with a visit to the offices of the European Parliament, bringing with him two proposals for Vico Equense. These are two projects that have been fully accepted and on which the foundations for their development will be laid. These will then be combined with a municipal PNNR office that will have the task of managing the European Commission funds assigned to local authorities.
The first concerns the candidacy of Vico Equense as “European Youth Capital” and the second to make “Vico Equense a pilot city for the promotion of sustainable ecology” from a European perspective.
"These are two opportunities - explains Maurizio Cinque - to relaunch the city and its economy. That of Vico Equense as an eco-sustainable city is a concrete and achievable goal - says the candidate - and this is precisely what we discussed in Brussels with representatives of the European Parliament, whom I thank for their availability and for accepting our proposals. With adequate planning and the active involvement of citizens, we can well use the funds that Europe allocates to us to achieve all the goals we have set ourselves.
We will start from the valorization of local, naturalistic and cultural resources, aimed at increasing tourist attractiveness with training and awareness campaigns aimed primarily at the vicani. The creation of a network of meeting and discussion between political representatives and civil society will be fundamental. It is a fundamental objective to keep the urbanized and naturalistic areas (including Monte Faito) clean and attractive, also by collecting garbage everywhere. Strategic - continues Maurizio Cinque - will be the improvement of the infrastructural and technological service.
It will be necessary to modernize and make the internet and data network truly efficient with the contribution of all national operators who will offer high-quality services compared to the decidedly inefficient ones currently existing in Vico Equense. The installation of an intelligent network for energy saving and better communications – concluded Maurizio Cinque – will contribute to improving a significant part of the lives of families and the work of local businesses, as well as the efficiency of local public transport and the complete digitalization of essential services».
