Naples. A tragedy like that of the little one Samuel Gargiulo It is unacceptable for anyone but equally unacceptable is the behavior of those who set themselves up as sheriff of a public road and transform it into private property.

“In front of the building where little Samuele tragically died, in via Foria in Naples, a few days ago an 'order service' was set up independently, composed of some residents, whose sole purpose was to prevent journalists from approaching. Yesterday morning there was yet another attack on the Tgr Campania crew, in the hours before the same treatment was reserved for other colleagues, one of whom was even slapped. It is not possible that the right to report is violated so with impunity”.

Thus the Joint Journalists Union of Campania in a note in which he requests the intervention of the police to restore legality.

“Photos and videos are prohibited out of respect for the family”. With this sign, posted on a wall, the inhabitants of Via Foria ask for a media silence to fall on the tragic death of little Samuele. An invitation addressed to the press but also to those 'curious' people who have published some videos on chat and social media in recent days. A street where silence reigns today on the matter after the confession of Mariano Cannio, the 38 year old domestic worker accused of voluntary homicide and since yesterday in the Poggioreale prison. Nobody wants to talk.

The inhabitants of the area are speechless for the statements released by the accused who tell the dynamics of the child's death and the hours that followed. "A monster" is the laconic comment of a man standing in front of the altar dedicated to the memory of Samuele.

A small altar where since last Friday, the day of the tragedy, citizens have continued to leave their own sign of closeness to the family. White flowers, hundreds of stuffed animals, Napoli t-shirts and white and blue balloons with which – a sign says – “now fly as high as you can.”
