Napoli. After the experience of Forcella Brilla 2020 – a STEM camp held in Naples and hosted by La Casa di Vetro, thanks to the contribution of Enel, L'Altra Napoli Onlus, the Association Amici di Carlo Fulvio Velardi and Space42, together with the association M&M–Idee per un Paese migliore – Il Cielo Itinerante, in collaboration with Space42 Europe, returns to Forcella with a 5-day STEM camp.
From 9 to 13 September 2021, at La Casa di Vetro, Il Cielo Itinerante will propose the first FORCELLA Brilla LAB, an experimental formula together with UNICEF and the association Amici di Carlo Fulvio Velardi ONLUS and L'Altra Napoli Onlus, with the aim of promoting equal opportunities by offering girls and boys important stimuli, both from the point of view of purely scientific subjects and by bringing them into contact with music, thanks also to the support of UNICEF ambassadors and testimonials Serena Autieri, Beppe Vessicchio and Clementino.
FORCELLA Brilla LAB will also focus on the relationship between girls and STEM subjects, because it is important to focus on gender inclusiveness and work so that girls have all possible futures ahead of them. In fact, data on girls' access to study paths focused on STEM subjects, both in the upper secondary education and university levels, reveal a significant gap for adolescents and young women with respect to training and professionalization opportunities in the scientific field.
The collaboration with the Italian Committee for UNICEF – Fondazione Onlus is aimed at ensuring the effectiveness of the rights to non-discrimination, education and upbringing of every child, especially in contexts of fragility and vulnerability. The goal is to create culturally significant experiences, capable of welcoming and enhancing individual subjectivities, motivating curiosity, discovery and collaboration, creating opportunities to support self-esteem, increasing confidence in their own abilities and in the real opportunities offered by education.
"Promoting education, inclusion, non-discrimination for us at UNICEF Italy is a constant commitment. Children, especially those who live in vulnerable contexts, today more than ever must feel our support and be guided in educational experiences that allow them to develop useful tools for life." – said Carmela Pace, President of UNICEF Italy. “We thank the Il Cielo Itinerante Association and the UNICEF Ambassadors and Testimonials for their commitment.”
The Forcella Brilla Lab will once again be hosted by La Casa di Vetro, a very important reality in the heart of a difficult neighborhood, where it has brought hope and helped create interest in cultural and other initiatives among young people.
PROGRAM
From September 9th to 13th, educational mornings on STEM subjects will alternate with afternoons involving UNICEF ambassadors and testimonials who will play with children using the language of music.
