Napoli. The office remains closed. bicycle path of the Galleria Quattro Giornate in Naples that connects Mergellina to Fuorigrotta.
The complaint was once again made by Natale de Falco, spokesperson for the Facebook group “AA Bici cerca pista ciclabile”
“To date, no news, the path is closed and blocked, it seems like a frenzy. No work in progress and no evident danger. The part reserved for cars is perfectly passable. This absurd closure forces cyclists to travel the stretch in the car lane with serious danger for the cyclist or “scooter rider”.
The closure of the lane forces cyclists and “scooter riders” (hundreds a day) to travel through the Laziale tunnel in the direction of Fuorigrotta/Mergellina and the IV giornate tunnel in the opposite direction, which exposes them to serious risks of accidents as they travel in the lane of cars, which speed by at high speed; it is not risky to say that we risk our lives every day.
It is absurd that no alternative route has been created since there are solutions, if the existing one really has to be closed:
1) Both sidewalks of the Laziale tunnel could be asphalted (it would be nice to rename it the Maradona tunnel)
2) The lane could be created in the current preferential lane for public transport, diverting them into the IV giornate tunnel.
3) A lane for going down and one for going up could be created with only signs and lines on the ground, in which case a strict speed limit of 30 km/h should be set, also with speed bumps.
Instead, nothing, no reason for the closure, no alternative.
The climate situation requires a new approach to our daily life, we can no longer postpone life choices that we have postponed for too long. To combat climate change we can all do something. We can all use a revolutionary means of transport: the bicycle.
In our city it has always been said that we could not use it because of the excessive differences in altitude but with the advent of the pedal-assisted bicycle even this last problem disappears and therefore there are no more excuses. “A new mobility in Naples is possible.
Currently, of the 16 km promised in 2012 by Mayor De Magistris, only two sections are passable: the Mergellina seafront and Viale Augusto.
At the moment the group “AA Bici cerca pista ciclabile” is organizing a protest “pedal ride”, we will go through both tunnels at a reduced speed and we have launched a petition for the next mayor” - explains de Falco.
"The city's galleries are certainly not in good shape. We have been dealing with this issue for a while now, now we will support and share de Falco's petition and when the new municipal council is in office we will propose projects for the cycle paths." - declared the Regional Councilor of Europa Verde Francesco Emilio Borrelli.
