Naples. Yesterday afternoon, officers from the General Prevention Office, during their territorial control service, while passing through Viale delle Metamorfosi noticed five people on board a car who, at the sight of them, fled despite having been ordered to stop.

The chase ended at the corner of Via Bronzi di Riace where, after hitting the patrol car, the driver, getting out of the car, pulled out a machine gun towards the police and fled on foot into the surrounding streets while the passengers were stopped.

Shortly after, a patrol from the San Giovanni-Barra Police Station saw a man corresponding to the descriptions in Via Bronzi di Riace running towards Via Cleopatra; at the sight of the patrol car, he attempted to run away but was caught and stopped.

Joseph Iacovelli, 41 years old with a criminal record, and CG, 19 years old, both from Naples, and Joseph Veneruso, Vincenzo Barbato e Joseph Damian, They were arrested for aggravated assault and resisting a public official, illegal possession of a firearm and aggravated damage to public administration property.

Finally, the driver was fined for driving without a revoked license and for failure to produce the vehicle registration documents.
