The Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza of Naples has seized over 5 quintals of “blondes” and arrested two smugglers, reporting six others.
This is the result of a series of checks carried out in recent days and in the last few hours, the result of the intensification of general prevention activities and economic control of the territory in the capital and in the metropolitan area by the Neapolitan Fiamme Gialle.
In particular, during an initial intervention, the Green Berets of the Naples Emergency Team, during constant road checks, identified, at the intersection between via circumvallazione esterna of Naples and via Luigi Minale in the municipality of Melito di Napoli, a large quantity of contraband cigarettes of the “Winston” and “Minsk” brands on a car, hidden under a black sheet on which hydraulic pipes and reflective vests had been placed.
Subsequent searches conducted at a garage in his possession led to the arrest of a 29-year-old from Naples, already known for smuggling, and the seizure of a total of 380 kg of “blondes”.
During a second operation, the same Baschi Verdi noticed, in via del Cassano, in the Secondigliano district of the capital, a subject who, after noticing the passage of the patrol, had suddenly moved away.
Suspicious of the man's behavior, the financial police first stopped him, finding him in possession of 200 grams of contraband cigarettes; subsequent investigations, conducted in close coordination with the Operations Room, allowed them to confirm his status as a fugitive, since he had evaded an order of imprisonment for "carrying weapons or objects capable of causing offence" and "theft" issued against him by the Court of Avellino. At the end of the activities he was locked up in the Poggioreale prison.
Furthermore, the II Naples Group in the Stella district seized, in via Bellini, corner of vico III Casanova, 120 kg of contraband cigarettes transported in a van that was noticed because near it there were two men who, at the sight of the patrol, abandoned a suitcase and suddenly disappeared.
The Pozzuoli Company in Bagnoli seized over 67 kg of cigarettes of the brands “Winston”, “Regina Red” and “10” at the home of a 821-year-old man, who was subsequently reported.
The Casalnuovo and Torre del Greco Companies reported 5 vendors who were holding several dozen packets of contraband cigarettes for sale inside cars or on a plastic display.
Finally, the Frattamaggiore Group seized over 28 kg of contraband cigarettes including “Regina”, “Stix”, “Marlboro” and “Winston”, all without the State Monopolies markings, administratively sanctioning 12 responsible parties.
