Naples, announcement of hiring for managers in Asia: unions on the warpath. In a joint statement, the unions FP CGIL (Maria Manocchio), FIT CISL (Carlo Bernardo), UILTRASPORTI (Francesco Gigli), and FIADEL (Vincenzo d'Albero) condemned the announcement for hiring new managers.

"With the usual untimeliness that now characterizes its actions, ASIA Napoli decides to put the most important management positions for the structure and management of the company up for competition. And, despite having had several months available, it decides to do so coincidentally coinciding with a decisive period for the electoral campaign and while, now that the mandate of the outgoing municipal administration has ended, there is no decisive political direction to outline the future of the largest waste management company. For years we have been denouncing an explosive situation in the company's operational sphere, due to the very serious and unsustainable shortage of personnel dedicated to collection and street sweeping".

“In light of the complaints of the trade unions – they continue in the note – ASIA has always preferred to intervene through temporary and non-definitive choices with respect to a problem, that of the lack of ecological operators, which could have already been solved if the procedures for the tender notice that the Municipality of Naples had authorized starting from June 2020 had been followed, as we were told by the administrators of Palazzo San Giacomo at the time.

ASIA's choice not to decide has determined the disastrous condition in which the city's waste collection and street sweeping service currently finds itself, while in the eyes of the population the responsibilities fall on the waste collectors and those responsible for the operational offices who are daily subjected to unjustified insults and even attacks because the streets are dirty.

And while those who work directly in the operational headquarters try to remedy an unmanageable situation with the meager human resources at their disposal, inadequate administrators from the offices of the Management of the company continue to patch up the holes that gradually emerge due to the delay with which they have chosen to act. And among the patches, by chance, they also include the possibility of selecting new Managers for high corporate positions (of which the Union only became aware by opening the website after the act had been published), while outside the fight for the grabbing of votes rages. No discussion with the Trade Unions on the merits of organizational and operational issues, a management that thinks it is sufficient unto itself and does not need to consult third parties with an act of unacceptable presumption.

A judgment that also emerged in the last union meeting called, by force of circumstances, to have started a cooling procedure that, in the light of the facts that emerged, was fully justified.

The strike is upon us, in the meantime the Management would do well to reflect and put a brake on the path taken, dedicating itself instead to defending all the workers who, due to a disaster that was announced, are directly and personally paying too high a price to this city!”, they conclude.
