Naples, 25-year-old damages Circum station in Piazza Garibaldi: arrested
The Carabinieri of the Naples Borgoloreto station – alerted by 112 – intervened at the entrance of the Naples Circumvesuviana station in Corso Garibaldi before 6 this morning.
The presence of a man who, for no apparent reason, was becoming enraged had been reported.
Before the arrival of the military, the “reported” man – a 25-year-old from Nola already known to the police with a criminal record for damage at the railway stations of Naples and Salerno – had set fire to a small container for separate waste collection.
Not content, he damaged the entrance door to the ticket office with an iron club and some cobblestones.
At the sight of the military, the man cursed at them and tried to hit them with a crowbar, then gave up and walked away in the direction of Piazza Mercato. The Carabinieri never lost sight of him and followed him to Via Chioccarelli where the 25-year-old was rendered harmless thanks to the use of the pepper spray supplied to the police. Arrested, the 25-year-old is now awaiting trial.
