Naples, Europa Verde: “In so many years they have not been able to find suitable solutions for the disabled. Shameful”
It seems incredible, yet architectural barriers are present also and above all in the headquarters of city administrations. In Naples, for example, it happens that the offices of Municipality I represent an unattainable goal for people in wheelchairs who, to access the building, would have to get out of the wheelchair, climb the stairs, ring the intercom to have the door opened and take what should be a sort of ramp.
The situation was documented by the Regional Councilor of Europa Verde Francesco Emilio Borrelli and by the municipal ones Benedetta Sciannimanica and Gianni Caselli, who together with some Green activists, accompanied Mr. Ferdinando, disabled, in a real odyssey to be able to reach the registry office.
“Truly shameful, there are no words. In 25 years of monobloc administration of this Municipality no one has ever thought of having to eliminate architectural barriers and find suitable solutions to make access easier for disabled people. The best that their minds have been able to conceive is this wooden ramp that can be obtained after climbing the stairs and ringing the intercom. A solution that would be fine if we were talking about fake disabled people… When will things start to change?” - the words of Borrelli, Sciannimanica and Caselli.
