The facts date back to June 23, when a group of people entered a commercial establishment and, without wearing masks, beat up a Chinese shopkeeper in the company of his wife and young children because he had asked them to wear the anti-Covid device
The Carabinieri of the Roma Porta Portese Station have executed an order for the application of a precautionary measure in prison, issued by the investigating judge of the Court of Rome, at the request of the local Public Prosecutor's Office, against 3 people - a 44-year-old Roman, a 30-year-old woman originally from the province of Avellino, of no fixed abode in the capital, and a 30-year-old Afghan citizen, all with criminal records - accused, to varying degrees, of the crimes of aggravated robbery in competition, aggravated personal injury in competition and illegal possession of weapons.
A fourth individual, their accomplice, is actively sought. The facts date back to June 23, when a group of people entered, without wearing the masks required by the anti-Covid-19 regulations, an electronics store in Circonvallazione Gianicolense, owned by a 33-year-old Chinese citizen.
The owner, at that moment in the company of his wife and children aged 3 and 7, invited customers to wear masks, a request immediately rejected by the group, and a heated discussion ensued, peppered with insults and threats against the owner of the business.
After a few minutes, the group left the shop without creating further problems, but at the closing time, when the shopkeeper and his family went to collect their car in Piazzale Flavio Biondo, they were confronted again, first by a woman, supported by the other members of the group, intent on taking revenge for the alleged wrong she had previously suffered in the shop.
The wife of the Chinese citizen made their children get into the car to save them from the fury of their attackers who, despite their presence, began to attack the bodywork anyway.
The husband was threatened with a box cutter and forced by the gang to hand over a smartwatch and earphones after being beaten, resulting in broken nasal bones and a 30-day prognosis.
The incident was immediately reported to the Carabinieri of the Roma Porta Portese station who, thanks to a meticulous investigation, corroborated by the questioning of witnesses and the acquisition of images from video surveillance cameras in the area, were able to reconstruct all the phases of the brutal attack and give a name and face to the alleged culprits.
The Public Prosecutor's Office of Rome, agreeing with the investigative findings of the Carabinieri, requested and obtained from the investigating judge of the Court of Rome a precautionary custody order against the suspects, three of whom were associated in prison, while one, in the meantime having fled abroad, he is still actively wanted.
