The Grottaminarda Highway Patrol helps doctors in need of a transplant
Providential intervention by the Highway Police of the Grottaminarda Subsection (Avellino) who intervened on the A16 Naples-Canosa to assist a medical car headed to Naples to deliver a liver for transplant at the Vallata toll booth.
The car, with five doctors on board, broke down. The officers, coordinated by Commander Armando Mirra, took two doctors on board the service car with the suitcase containing the organ, removed in Bari, and at full speed headed to Naples where the organ was expected at the “Cardarelli” hospital.
Thanks to their prompt action, the organ arrived intact and was successfully transplanted into a patient admitted to the Neapolitan hospital.
