Pontecagnano. The military personnel of the Carabinieri Forestale Station of San Cipriano Picentino, during the territory control service, noticed, in the Municipality of Pontecagnano Faiano near the civil airport, a column of thick black smoke rising from a point located in the middle of greenhouses and cultivated land.
Having promptly reached the location, behind a country house, the patrol surprised a woman intent on feeding a fire set to a pile of waste; waste, among other things, also polluting, in fact consisting of plastics, waste from electrical equipment (fans, etc.), rags, used clothes and other urban waste.
The fire was burning on embers consisting of a large quantity of waste from demolition activities and most likely already burned by fires started previously.
Given the dangerousness of the burned waste, and also given the proximity to the civil airport, the military first took action to put out the flames.
In light of what was found, the military proceeded to seize the area used for combustion and the residues of burned waste and to report to the Judicial Authorities the thirty-five-year-old of Moroccan origins responsible for the crime of illicit combustion of waste.
The military operations were conducted by the Commander of the San Cipriano Picentino Forestry Carabinieri Station, Marshal Emanuele Lanzetta, newly assigned to command the department.
