They cheat. Over the last few days, the Maritime District Office of Ischia has carried out, with the superior coordination of the Maritime Directorate of Naples, a series of control activities aimed at identifying illegal activities in the environmental, state-owned and landscape fields within the national device of the operation “Mare Sicuro”.
In particular, during the verification activity, an illegal pier used by small vessels to reach the local beaches more easily was identified in the “Maronti” area of the Municipality of Barano d'Ischia.
Once it was discovered that there were no permits for the construction, the pier was placed under seizure.
Furthermore, in the “Maronti” area, a stretch of free beach was identified that was arbitrarily and illegally occupied with beach equipment by a commercial operator.
All equipment was seized and the portion of the beach was cleared to ensure free use by all citizens.
It is worth remembering that the territory of the Island of Ischia is characterized by natural areas and contexts with a high degree of panoramic views and that the coastal territory is subject to hydrogeological constraints, constraints regarding the Assets of historical, archaeological, ethnographic interest, seismic constraints and landslide risk constraints.
With a Decree of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities of 8.2.1999, the entire territory of the island of Ischia was, in fact, included in the list of areas of notable landscape interest.
Furthermore, pursuant to art. 142 of Legislative Decree 142/04 “Code of Culture and Landscape”, the coastal territories included in a strip of depth of 300 meters from the shoreline are to be considered of landscape interest.
Finally, the seabed of the coastal waters of the island of Ischia is particularly sensitive from the point of view of environmental protection since, in addition to being included in the “Rete Natura 2000” project established pursuant to Directive 92/43/EEC “Habitat” being included in the SIC and SPA list, it is an integral and substantial part of the Marine Protected Area “Regno di Nettuno” established with Ministerial Decree 27.12.2007.
The Coast Guard of Ischia, under the coordination of the Maritime Directorate of Naples, will continue the important activity of control and at the same time of raising awareness among citizens on environmental protection in order to guarantee the protection of the precious resources and natural beauty of the Island of Ischia.
