The 'Prize of Prizes' at the Mei in Faenza

The “Award of Prizes”, the contest that brings together the winners of Italian songwriting competitions named after Italian artists, conceived and directed by Enrico Deregibus e Giordano Sangiorgi.

The appointment is at 20.15pm on Saturday 2 October in the square Nipple in Faenza, as always within the Mei – Independent Labels Meeting, scheduled this year from 1 to 3 October.

Guests of the evening will be Lorenzo Kruger, former frontman of Nobraino, who will present songs from his debut album “Singularity", is Francesco Bianconi, leader of the Construction site, who in addition to performing will receive a special award from the Mei for “Forever“, his first solo album.

Competing in this year's Award of Awards will be Asteria (for the Bindi Award), Marta Frigo (for the Luttazzi Award), Nervi (for the Buscaglione Award), Monica Sannino (for the Bianca d'Aponte Award), Jamila (for the De André Award), Marcello Graduato (for the Pigro – Ivan Graziani Award) and Andrea Santelli (for the Je so' pazzo Award, dedicated to Pino Daniele).

Each participant will propose, as always, a song of their own and a cover of a protagonist of Italian music, in a sort of passing of the baton.

A prestigious jury of journalists and industry professionals will decree the winner, who will receive a plaque, an exhibition at “Acoustic Newsstand” of Grosseto and The Mbroia of Corigliano d'Otranto (in collaboration with Coolclub), as well as a passage in the television program “Internal 8” by Rete8, the leading television station in Abruzzo, and a report on Jam TV by Alex Pierro.

The first editions of the initiative were won by Roberta Giallo (2017), Daniela Pes (2018), Chiara Effe (2019), Luca Guidi (2020), while a first experimental edition in 2008 saw the victory of Ettore Giuradei.

Robert Yellow will be among the presenters of the evening, together with Deregibus, and will perform on the same stage at 18.45pm in a sort of preview of the Premio dei Premi, together with Blindur, winner of the Amnesty Emerging Voices for Freedom Award, and Andrea Chimenti, a pioneer of the independent music scene, who will bring some songs from his new album “The desert the night the sea".

During the preview there will also be space for the awards ceremony of Edoardo De Angelis, for the 50 years of “Lella", and of RearrangeRiz, contest on the music of Riz Ortolani, edited by Renato Marengo, with Claver Gold and Donella Del Monaco.
