The forecourt of the Cathedral of Naples illuminated in red for the prestigious San Gennaro Day Award: guest of honor of the IX edition, dedicated to the great Enrico Caruso, on the centenary of his death, the tenor Andrea Bocelli, an exceptional interpreter of Neapolitan song in today's world.
Bocelli received the “San Gennaro Day Award” from the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Naples Ciro Fiola. The rector of the University of Naples Matteo Lorito awarded him the work Prodigy 4, realized by Enza Monetti, who participates in the collective of 20 artists “Under the sign of San Gennaro / Strategies of the gaze” curated by Loredana Troise on display at the Monumental Complex of San Domenico Maggiore (free admission, until October 1st, from Monday to Saturday, from 11am to 18pm).

The stage of the “Premio San Gennaro Day” hosted a group of excellences, who with their work, each in their own sector, brought prestige to the city of Naples, performing a true earthly miracle.
For the IX edition the following were awarded the prestigious Made in Naples recognition: Peppino of Capri, Lino Banfi, Antonio Milo, Rocco Hunt, Emilia Zamuner, Vincent DeLucia, Barbara Foria, Tommaso Zorzi, Nu Genea, Marco Calone, Iabo, Bruno Giordano, Sondra Sottile, Francesca Simonelli.
On stage not only the world of music and entertainment. The “San Gennaro Day Award” was also awarded to Edward of Naples, courageous entrepreneur from the Sanità district; Ezio Stellato, expert in tax and fiscal matters; Vincent Capasso, a young pizza chef who went from the street to become a Master of the white art; Davide Rosiello, CEO BioVIllx; Carlo De Simone, CEO European Brokers; Cristina Leardi, President of the Consortium for the protection of the Vesuvius DOP cherry tomato volcanic eruptions and CEO of the Masseria del Sorbo agricultural company
A Alfonso Esposito Marroccella, a merchant from Arzano, linked to the Padolino family for 60 years in a relationship of esteem and affection, was awarded the special Padolino Award, named after the merchant Rosario Padolino, who tragically passed away on that very street he loved and for which he worked so hard in the name of urban redevelopment, which supported the return of the feast of San Gennaro nine years ago.
The Award has always combined moments of entertainment with moments of reflection. Like every year, the Grand Gala award ceremony was opened by a Lectio Magistralis to the Neapolitan people. This year's Lectio was entrusted to Italy Orofino e Carmen Nappo, representing the workers of Whirpool Napoli. The workers retraced the stages of the painful dispute and explained what the epilogue of Whirpool means for the entire city of Naples and for its productive/manufacturing fabric, now reduced to the bone.
The Award increasingly confirms its national and even international vocation. During the evening there was a video link with the feast of San Gennaro in New York, and, in particular, with the Little Italy of Manhattan and with James Bari, a prominent figure in the Italian-American community and owner of the historic restaurant Benito One, located in the heart of Mulberry Street, where the feast of San Gennaro takes place. With him, the chef Pasquale Cozzolino, who from the Spanish Quarters of Naples conquered the Big Apple, where he became one of the major interpreters of the culinary scene, as well as the chef of the Mayor of New York.
