Da Friday 10 a Sunday September 12, in San Nicola Arcella, the second edition of the Crawford Tower Award Festival: three days of cultural meetings between fiction, theatre and cinema, which will take place in various locations in the city, with notable guests and the winners of the 2021 Torre Crawford Prize literary competition.
The Award was born in 2020 as an independent cultural initiative to re-evaluate in a literary key the place of inspiration of the American novelist (Italian by birth) Francis Marion Crawford, the most successful writer between the 19th and 20th centuries, who spent the summers between the Cilento coast and the tower that today bears his name, where he set one of his most famous works.
The literary competition inspired by him now highlights new talents, published in annual themed anthologies. This year's guest stars include the writer-director Aldo Side (Friday 10, 18.00 pm), author of cinema classics such as The funny thing (from the novel by Giuseppe Berto) or Disobedience (from Alberto Moravia), also famous for his thrillers The short night of the glass dolls e Who saw her die?, and for the shocking The last train of the night, films for which Quentin Tarantino called him an absolute master.
On the literary front he presents himself Alda Teodorani (Saturday 11, 18.00 pm), a cult author who emerged from the ranks of the Group 13 of Bologna, later included among the Young Cannibals, and a great literary experimenter between genre fiction and mainstream. Of her works between noir and gothic, Dario Argento said “they resemble my deepest nightmares“. A subject of study in universities around the world, this year it is the godmother of the Festival’s anthology.
