Third place and bronze medal for Italy at Qazaq Kuresi World Cup, held on September 12th in Constanta, Romania, with the participation of the Italian Federation of Kurash and Traditional Wrestling (FIKULT). In the -82kg category, the athlete climbed onto the podium Alessio Pasciulli, Molise from Termoli, accompanied by the Maestro Anthony Langiano as team manager.
Traditional wrestling of the Kazakhstan, due to its ancient origins and cultural importance, Qazaq Kuresi was declared by UNESCO “Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity”. This competition, promoted by the Qazaq Kuresi Association, was included in the “Sabantoi International Festival”, a major cultural and sporting event of the Turkish people that takes place every year in Constanta, desired and organized by the Tatar Democratic Union, chaired by Belgin Naim, with the support of the Department for Inter-Ethnic Relations of the Government of Romania.
Hundreds of athletes from various countries around the world have tried their hand at traditional wrestling such as Kurash, Aba Wrestling, Belbogli Kurash and Belt Wrestling Koresh, all represented and promoted in Italy by FIKULT.
The comment of the founder and president of the Italian Federation of Kurash and Traditional Wrestling, lawyer Victor Giorgi: “The participation in this important event of Langiano and Pasciulli, the major experts in Italy of Shuai Jiao (ancient Chinese wrestling), arises from a recent desire for collaboration. This extraordinary Festival, to which we are participating for the third time with great interest, is a clear example of how Traditional Sports are custodians of ancient cultural values and an expression of the spirit of brotherhood between peoples”.
