Sant'Antonio Abate. The Carabinieri task force continues to control illegal discharges of liquid waste into the Sarno River and its tributaries. The military personnel belonging to the Naples Environmental, Agri-food and Forestry Police Investigative Unit of the Naples Forestry Carabinieri Group carried out an inspection at a canning company operating in the municipality of Sant'Antonio Abate.
The military found multiple irregularities, reporting the owner for illegal waste disposal, seizing an unauthorized waste storage area of about 500 square meters and especially 5 holes located along the perimeter wall of the company yard that allowed the flow of liquid waste directly into the Rio Marna canal.
Once identified, the holes were filled with cement in order to stop the flow of processing sludge. The ARPAC personnel who intervened proceeded to carry out sampling of the waste water. The economic value of the seized goods amounts to approximately 200 thousand euros.
