A new experiment starts from Sorrento that on one hand guarantees the monitoring of water quality, on the other enhances local fish, for the benefit of consumers, restaurants and the fishermen themselves.
The new technology, based on sensors that detect data on water quality, and the result of a joint venture between the Italian company Foodchain and the Japanese Qms International, sees the coastal town as the headquarters of the pilot project, to then export it on an international scale, as underlined by Atsuya Sugawara, director of the private Japanese partner. The Municipality of Sorrento has granted patronage to the project.
"The initiative is part of a series of actions that our municipal administration has been carrying out for some time“, declares the president of the Sorrento city council, Luigi Di Prisco. “Between the end of September and the beginning of October – adds Di Prisco – in fact, a reclamation and cleaning of the seabed is planned. In addition, the analysis and recovery of ghost nets is underway, which have a destructive potential for the entire marine ecosystem. In the meantime, we are continuing with the monitoring of the inhabitants of our seabed, spotting turtles, dolphins and blue sharks”.
