By the end of the month, the government will decide whether stadiums, cinemas and theatres will be able to fill their seats again, or at least no longer just half. These are the predictions of the Undersecretary of Health, Enrico Costa.

"The government has made a precise commitment and on September 30th there will be an evaluation: I believe that the conditions will be there to proceed with an expansion of the capacities for stadiums, theaters and cinemas. I believe there could be an intermediate stage on the increase that could foresee a 75-80% and then look at the goal of 100% in the coming weeks".

“In the evaluation at the end of the month – he said on 'A Day as a Sheep' – discos could also be included and we will give an answer: it is important to create conditions for reopening and we can also start – he said – with a 75% capacity with the green pass”.

Then, answering the question of whether masks will have to be used in discos, Costa stated, “it's another indication that the CTS, science, will give us”.

Overall, he added, “the vaccine does not exclude the possibility of contagion, so as of today I believe that the issue of removing masks indoors is an issue to be postponed”. Referring therefore to the green pass, “it is a tool that allows us to resume activities and with over 70 million green certificates that have been downloaded, citizens have become aware of this tool”.

The undersecretary underlined that with the green pass there has been an increase in vaccinations and “we hope that things will continue like this to reach the 90% target, which I believe is achievable”. As for the third dose of the anti-Covid vaccine for the entire population, “Politics must wait for the indications of science”, he noted, stressing that he is also in favor of vaccination for children once the regulatory agencies and AIFA have expressed their opinion on the matter.

"I believe that it is appropriate to use the green pass also in Parliament, at a time when we foresee it for other places. However, there is an evaluation to be made: the Chamber is the place where parliamentarians express their vote, and there may be a no-vax parliamentarian and this becomes a problem", Undersecretary Costa added.

"If we introduce the green pass and there is a parliamentarian against the green pass, we risk denying the right to vote and therefore the right to representation. This is not a secondary consideration. There is an issue of democratic representation”, Costa concluded.
