On Sunday 12 September we return to the Convent of S. Francesco, in Casanova di Carinola, for the grand finale with Silvano Minella on the violin and Flavia Brunetto piano.

Il Convent of St. Francis in Casanova of Carinola, dates back to the 13th century. It was founded by the followers of Francis of Assisi or perhaps by himself who certainly stopped there for a long time (the historian Luca Wadding reports the presence of the Saint in the year 1222). Even today the cave dug into the rock that was the Saint's bed is well preserved. Built entirely of gray tuff masonry, the Complex is made up of the Church with two naves and the Convent enriched by the valuable cloister.

Inside the church, the pointed triumphal arch, the single-lancet window on the front wall of the apse and a fresco depicting the Annunciation of Mary stand out.

The Cloister has a quadrangular structure with pointed cross vaults that open onto the central courtyard and with frescoes on the side walls whose subjects are inspired by the life of St. Francis. Also noteworthy are the frescoes in the refectory attributable to the Giotto school.

Il Archaeological Museum of Teano is housed inside the late Gothic monumental complex known as the “Loggione e Cavallerizza”, which belonged to the Marzano family, which was built in the 14th century in the area of the early medieval castle and had political and civil functions. The building today houses the finds discovered during the excavation campaigns of the town and territory of Teano, anciently inhabited by the Italic population of the Sidicini, settled on the border between southern Lazio and the territory of the Samnites. The visit route develops in seven rooms, according to a chronological and thematic path that spans about three millennia of history.

The Museum displays finds from excavations in the ancient centre and in the territory of Teanum Sidicinum, inhabited by an Italic population speaking Oscan who developed their own original figurative culture since the 6th century BC.

The main nuclei are constituted by votive objects deposited in the sanctuaries, in particular by the sacred area built in the locality of Loreto and by the sanctuary of the village of Fondo Ruozzo, which has returned statuettes, pottery, miniature ceramics, votive offerings depicting animals and products of the earth. The density and wealth of the Sidicine population is also testified by the funerary objects of the necropolises of both the villages and the towns, with materials that range from the end of the 6th century BC to the full Roman imperial age.

The Museum also hosts a section dedicated to urban excavations, among which the most important intervention is the recovery of the Roman theatre: located in a central area of the city, it preserves almost entirely the cavea and the stage building with its sumptuous architectural and sculptural decoration. Also of particular interest is the mosaic with a depiction of the Epiphany which constitutes the oldest attestation of this theme in Italy on mosaic.
