Pisa. He finds a wallet with 3500 euros on the beach and returns it to the owner: the mayor rewards him.
It happened in San Giuliano Terme, in the province of Pisa, where the mayor Sergio Di Maio wanted to give a commendation to Mauro Bezzini, a pensioner resident in his municipality who on August 29 found a wallet with over 3.500 euros in cash on the beach between Castagneto Carducci and Donoratico, in the province of Livorno, and brought it to the Carabinieri station in his town. The military, thanks to the documents, tracked down the owner who had lost the money and to whom it was returned. This morning the mayor of San Giuliano, Sergio Di Maio, wanted to reward the model citizen with a parchment of commendation, making the example public. The pensioner is called Mauro Bezzini and, as reconstructed by the Municipality, "was on vacation with his family between Donoratico and Castagneto Carducci when he found a wallet with 3.595 euros in cash on the beach, which he subsequently delivered to the Carabinieri station in San Giuliano Terme to return it" to its rightful owner. “First of all, I am happy that the lady was able to get her money back,” Bezzini said, “and I thank those who allowed the story to have a happy ending,” namely the Carabinieri who traced the owner. Mayor Di Maio said that “this gesture must be an example of how to behave in a community. My thanks also go to the Carabinieri, in particular to the command of San Giuliano Terme, led by Lieutenant Francesco Macchiarulo. The episode demonstrates, once again, the importance of collaboration between institutions, law enforcement and citizens to live in a better, more welcoming, supportive and safe place, from every point of view.”
