Whirlpool, Apetino (CISL): "Minister Giorgetti is running away from workers instead of listening to them."

“Instead of addressing the problems and hearing and listening to the workers, even getting a few boos, Minister Giorgetti is going around running away from his responsibilities“, he declared in a note General Secretary Fim Cisl Campania Raffaele Apetino: "An inconceivable attitude. The Minister of the Republic at the head of the Ministry of Industry today rightly visited the Adler plant in Airola in the province of Benevento, but he was careful, even though he knew the situation, to visit the Whirpool workers in Naples. But on the other hand, he has never been seen in our land and yet there are several disputes, but it seems he was spotted in Cernobbio. If the minister intends to resolve the disputes with this approach, going to cut the ribbons, frequenting the glossy summits but running away from the critical situations and the workers for fear of whistles and protests, we are not there". Apetino explained: “We remind Minister Giorgetti that he, despite being appointed from the ranks of the League (Northern), is the Minister of Economic Development for all of Italy and not for a part of the country”.

It's still: "We have seen many, alternating in the Ministry of Economic Development but a minister so distant and cold with respect to the industrial disputes of the South had never been seen. Except for the day of the installation of the Draghi government, he has never been interested in the Whirpool dispute, only chatter like his predecessors did: zero”.

Then he added: "On September 26th we remind him that the 75 days of the dismissal procedure initiated by the American multinational expire, we expect that Minister Giorgetti will immediately convene a round table to avoid yet another blow to the Neapolitan industry. For years we have been faced with a desertification of the industry in Campania. A change of pace is needed, investments and industrial policies are needed to relaunch an extraordinary land with great capabilities and professionalism, but to do so we need a choral effort".

Finally he concluded: “Campania and Campanian workers are second to none, we don't want subsidies, but work. To do this we want the conditions to be created in Campania to give the same job opportunities present in other areas of the country to Campanians and to all of Southern Italy. Let's start by giving Whirlpool workers a job prospect and not sterile chatter".
