A new meeting on the Whirlpool dispute has been set at the Ministry for next Thursday, September 23.
On that date, according to what has been learned, the consortium on sustainable mobility, for the reconversion of the Naples site, will be presented in detail by Invitalia and the Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Alessandra Todde.
The project was announced at the beginning of August. The collective dismissal procedure expires on September 29.
"We're staying in tents until we get a concrete response. Our goal is to halt the layoffs, which would otherwise begin at the end of the month ." Vincenzo Accurso, a Whirlpool worker in Naples and a Uilm union representative, told Dire. He and 200 others are in Rome today, in front of the Ministry of Economic Development's headquarters on Via Molise. The workers have set up nine tents and intend to "camp out indefinitely," also organizing shifts to continue the protest at the Ministry.
"This discussion has been going on for three years, and I've never been absent from this issue. I've always been there and never backed down. We've been working on a consortium focused on sustainable mobility that can manage the workforce reabsorption. It's clearly necessary for the company and the union to sit down at the table. But I have to say one thing: I don't want the message to be conveyed that the government hasn't worked; that would be truly disrespectful ," said Deputy Minister Todde on the Whirlpool dispute.
