Yesterday afternoon, officers from the Naples North Highway Police Subsection and the Nola Highway Police Detachment arrested GM, a 53-year-old from Acerra, for cultivation and production of narcotic substances.
The activity arose from a report made by an agent of the Rome-San Paolo police station and a soldier of the Italian Army who, free from duty, while traveling on the A30 motorway towards Salerno, stopped in a lay-by at due to a mechanical problem with your car.
Once they got out of the vehicle they noticed a strong odor of a narcotic substance of the cannabis type and, looking out onto the adjacent slope, they saw some hemp plants with leaves and inflorescences and, next to them, a person with a bucket of water.
The policemen set up a targeted observation service and, yesterday afternoon, noticed the presence of the described person who was taking water from a tank and heading towards the hemp plants.
The workers stopped the man and found around 100 hemp plants with "fresh" leaves and inflorescences weighing approximately 50 kg.
Furthermore, they checked a nearby agricultural farmhouse where they discovered a video surveillance system used to monitor the access road to the agricultural land and an adjacent greenhouse.
Finally, the agents, inside the greenhouse, used for drying tobacco, found another 30 hemp plants with dried leaves and inflorescences weighing approximately 10 kg.
