Inter-force 'Action Day' in the “Land of Fires” between Naples and Caserta: checks in 9 companies

Land of fires. On October 07th, an extraordinary inter-force control operation was carried out in the municipalities of Naples and Caserta against the illegal disposal and burning of industrial, artisanal and commercial waste.

The effort to repress and prevent the illegal abandonment of waste from domestic, industrial and agricultural users, also aimed at illegal landfills, continues, according to the planning established with the coordination of the Prefecture of Naples with the Prefecture of Caserta, the two Police Headquarters and with the other Police Forces of the provinces, based on the programming proposed by the Person in Charge of combating the phenomenon of fires in the Campania region within the scope of the "Terra dei Fuochi" Control Room.

The RAVEN asset (Italian Army drones specialized in information research) and the ROAN Guardia di Finanza of Naples are used in the control activity and in the information search of the targets with aerial overflights to support the operational activities on the ground in identifying areas destined for illicit dumping and possible related activities.

In this regard, these areas identified and reported during the coordination phase, following an analysis of the images for the completion of the information, led to the achievement of operational results today.

24 crews for a total of 56 units participated in the inter-force operation, in the locations and sites where waste is usually abandoned and then disposed of illegally on the territory, checking 09 business and commercial activities, 51 people identified, of which 06 reported and 02 fined, 29 vehicles checked, 5000 m91 of areas seized, 1032,00 Mc non-hazardous waste seized, fines imposed equal to XNUMX euros.

The seized area was overflown by environmental drones equipped with thermal cameras from the Area Nolana development agency to identify the type of waste, which included polyethylene pipes, concrete blocks, scattered unsorted waste, and the presence of treated wooden sleepers for railway sub-bases.

In detail, the composition of the joint patrols included:
Campania Army Group based on the “Guide” Cavalry Regiment (19th), State Police of Nola (Na), Forestry Carabinieri of Nola (Na), ROAN Financial Police of Naples, Financial Police of Nola (Na), Metropolitan Police of Naples, Carabinieri of Nola (Na), Municipal Police of Marigliano (Na), Municipal Police of Nola (Na), Central Inspectorate for the Repression of Fraud Southern Italy, State Police of Sessa Aurunca (Ce), Carabinieri of Cellole (Ce), Territorial Financial Police of Sessa Aurunca (Ce), Forestry Carabinieri of Pietramelara (Ce), Provincial Police of Caserta (Ce), ARPAC of Caserta, ASL of Caserta.
