Castellammare. A fugitive from the D'Alessandro clan was arrested by the Carabinieri.

Yesterday afternoon, in Castellammare di Stabia, the Carabinieri of the Torre Annunziata Investigative Unit executed a custodial order against the fugitive Vincenzo Di Palma, 39 years old, affiliated with the local Camorra clan “D'Alessandro”, accused of the crime of association for the purpose of drug trafficking with the aggravating circumstance of the mafia method.

The measure was the result of a more complex investigative activity conducted between 2017 and 2018 by the military of the Torre Annunziata force under the coordination of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Naples, which in June 2020 led to the arrest of 27 members of the clan, highlighting the monopolistic role of the same organization in the drug market in the entire Stabia area, thanks also to the strategic alliance with the "Afeltra-Di Martino" families.

During the investigations, the prominent role played by Di Palma himself within the clan that dominated the Stabia area was ascertained, as manager of the drug dealing square in the area of the historic centre of Castellammare di Stabia called “in mezzo al Gesù”, moreover at a time of great fibrillation for the city itself, caused by the presence of illicit competition with the other squares managed by the Vitale family, the so-called “Mariuoli”.

Furthermore, Di Palma had become a fugitive following the acceptance by the Court of Review of Naples of the appeal proposed by the local Public Prosecutor's Office - DDA and the subsequent rejection (pronounced on 21 September) of the appeal presented by the same to the Supreme Court of Cassation, being tracked down by the military of the Arma, following incessant searches, in a house in Castellammare di Stabia and subsequently taken to the Secondigliano prison.
