Cell Phones, the ranking of how and where Italians break it.
Here's where and how Italians broke their phones in the summer of 2021

How and where do Italians break their phones? This year too, the ranking of regions and nations where Italians broke their smartphones the most during the 2021 summer holidays has been published.

First of all, it should be noted that 93,3% of Italians decided to stay in Italy and only 6,7% preferred foreign destinations, perhaps not too far from Italy.

In first place among the countries where Italians have seen the most smartphone breakages we find Great Britain, probably thanks to the European Football Championship and a few “too many” celebrations (or curses).

Precisely because of the European Championships, surprisingly, streets and squares – protagonists of decisive matches thanks to the giant screens – and stadiums (a real novelty) are respectively in third and sixth place in the rankings as places where the most breakdowns have occurred.

On the podium in second place is Greece (two more than last year), a favourite destination especially for Lombardy residents, third is Spain (sixth last year) preferred by residents of Lazio, and fourth is Croatia, which maintained the same position as in 2020, preferred by residents of the Tri-Veneto region.

Turning instead to the regions, we see Lazio in first place in the rankings, which compared to 2020 has made a leap from fourteenth position, with the city of Rome and the province of Latina in the lead, Puglia in second place, followed by Sardinia and Sicily, all regions that in past years have always placed in the top part of the rankings.

The sea, together with swimming pools and lakes, is revealed again this year as the most dangerous place for smartphones with 40.3% of breakages with a slight but constant increase in recent years of lakes and swimming pools.

According to WeFix Lab, the Statistics Department of iFix-iPhone.com, the booking engine that selects the best smartphone assistance centers in the area, which carried out the study of breakages, the main causes of phone breakages were:

accidental falls and contact with liquids, about a third of which are due to voluntary immersion by users. We are sure that the seabed of our beautiful country is rich in beauty and the underwater photos are very suggestive, however - perhaps due to some misunderstanding in advertising between "splash-resistant" and "waterproof" - this summer too the electrical circuits of telephones have paid the consequences.

Covid is known to have changed our habits in part and has also done so in terms of holidays, as demonstrated by the increase in accidents in campers or boats, places of accidents that were less common in previous years.

Another major cause of failure was the great heat.

In this regard, the iFix-iPhone.com partner technicians remind that "when possible they should be kept at an ideal temperature of 22-24° or in any case in the shade, trying to use them as little as possible during the hottest hours, possibly never with direct and prolonged exposure to sunlight or even worse during the charging phase". Hence the failure of the batteries which this year more than ever has been the most common damage (44.16%) that occurred to our devices.

The most inattentive were the very young in the 18-24 age group, while the most diligent (as always) were the over 50s in good company with the 36-44 age group who for the first time dropped in the ranking.

However, there was no notable difference between women and men, who reported a percentage of 2021 for women and 48,9 for men in terms of “breakups” in the summer of 49,1, respectively.

The last gem is the very numerous requests from parents who have contacted the iFix-iPhone.com offices because of children who are a bit too “lively”, who have blocked or destroyed the smartphones of relatives and family friends, often throwing them on the floor on purpose…

*The study was conducted by WeFix Lab, the Statistics Department of iFix-iPhone.com, the booking engine that selects the best smartphone repair centers.

The numbers refer to statistics relating to site navigation, requests sampled by platform support and reservations received from individual Italian provinces and regions as well as requests for support from residents/domiciled in Italy making requests from abroad for Italy, in the period 01 June – 31 August 2021.
