The environmental awareness project in collaboration with Marevivo
Coca Cola stops to clean the beaches of Mondragone from plastic.

The initiative promoted by Monica Rispoli, from Salerno, born in 82, is the plant manager of the Marcianise plant of Coca-Cola Hbc Italia, for "raising awareness on environmental care".

Blue Day: Coca Cola Stops for the Good of the Environment

The number one of the Marcianise plant – over 210.000.000 liters produced annually between Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite and Fuzetea in glass, Pet and can formats – is the protagonist of an initiative that probably has few equals in the entrepreneurial system not only in Campania. This morning, in fact, a special Blue Day dedicated to the conservation of the marine ecosystem will be held, created by Coca-Cola with Marevivo.

The Terra di Lavoro plant will stop the machines for one day, allowing all 100 employees working on production (who joined on a voluntary basis and during working hours) “to help preserve the coastal beauty through a simple act of cleaning the beaches of Mondragone, recovering abandoned waste so that it can be correctly disposed of and, where possible, recycled to have a second life”.

The Blue Activities Project

The initiative is part of the Blue Activities program, conceived and implemented by Marevivo with the unconditional support of The Coca-Cola Foundation, which in recent years has seen the environmentalist association involved in numerous clean-up actions on the Italian coast, combined — precisely — with environmental and sustainability education activities.

“For years, as a company, we have been investing to make the concept of circular economy increasingly concrete by working on all aspects of the business, from production to our customers' points of sale. With initiatives like today's we can take a further step forward. So I thank Marevivo for supporting us in organizing it”, Rispoli explains further.

The Coca Cola Company's Commitment

Collaboration on Blue Day “is part of Coca-Cola's long-term sustainability strategy, called World Without Waste, which includes clear global goals to eliminate waste".

In Italy, the company always specifies, “all the packaging produced by the company is already 100% recyclable and new bottles made with 100% recycled plastic (rPet) have been introduced for several brands in its product portfolio, for a total of 150 million packages produced in 2021”.

A further step forward “it has also been done on secondary packaging, that which is not in direct contact with the product, with the recent introduction of KeelClip™, the innovative 100% recyclable paper packaging system, which allows the complete elimination of plastic wrapping from multi-packs of cans”. Furthermore, “After Fanta, the colour was also removed from Sprite bottles, in order to make recycling easier in new transparent bottles.”

Mondragone – Shooting a Carabinieri station as a demonstration of clan loyalty. This is one of the most disturbing incidents to emerge from the investigation that led to the arrest of 21 alleged members of the Gagliardi clan, a Camorra organization operating in Mondragone and surrounding towns, believed to be the direct descendants of the historic La Torre clan, linked to the Casalesi. Mondragone – A large plot of land spanning approximately 4.000 square meters on the Domitian coast, in the former IDAC area—already declared abandoned and at risk due to deterioration—has been seized by the Caserta Provincial Police. At the center of the operation: receiving stolen cars, illegal dismantling of vehicles, and illegal waste management.
