Pietramelara is in mourning for the passing of Daniel Leone, former goalkeeper of Reggina, Pontedera, Reggiana, Sassari Torres and Catanzaro, who died at the age of 28 after battling for years a terrible disease that forced him to retire early from football.

The passing of the 28-year-old former footballer has deeply shaken the entire town that is participating with deep emotion in the pain. Mayor Pasquale Di Fruscio has proclaimed a day of mourning for the city during the funeral that will take place at 15:XNUMX PM today.

He also ordered the display of flags at half-mast on municipal buildings and schools, as well as a minute of silence in the municipal offices at 12.30:XNUMX.

For the values ​​he transmitted, he was an authentic champion on the field, having played in professional football teams at a very young age, and also off the field, for having given an example of courage and strength, facing his suffering with dignity and instilling hope in his family and the many young people around him”.
Daniel, even after the onset of his long illness, participated in charitable initiatives, of moral and ideal value, to support cancer research, participating in the heart match played at the Stadium in Turin together with many football legends. "In addition to representing an example of absolute loyalty and correctness on the football fields, he represented an example of courage and strength for the young people of Pietramelara".
