Chinese brush cutters and chainsaws seized in Naples

Napoli. The 840 dangerous brush cutters and 1948 counterfeit chainsaws seized by officials of the Naples Customs Office 1 were manufactured and came from China. The two shipments, which if placed on the market would have generated revenues of approximately 300 thousand euros, were intended to be delivered to two companies operating in the area.

The legal representatives of the importing companies were reported to the Judicial Authority for the crimes of ideological forgery, reproduction of false signs on industrial products and counterfeiting. The company to which the brush cutters were intended presented officials with a certificate issued on a purely voluntary basis by an accredited body which, however, in addition to being devoid of any legal value, also turned out to be false.

The chainsaws found to be counterfeit, however, reproduced, without the necessary license, the figurative trademark consisting of the particular orange/grey colour combination owned by the German multinational Andreas Stihl Ag & Co. Kg, whose experts, having examined representative photos, declared the counterfeiting.
