Sorrento. From 9 to 12 October, Sorrento will host two important events related to the G20. These are the ministerial meeting of International Trade, the summit that brings together the main economies of the planet and the Innovation League, an event designed to share innovative solutions to global challenges and to promote international cooperation.

For security reasons, linked to the presence of government delegations from all over the world, a note reads, "the municipal administration of Sorrento, in agreement with the prefecture of Naples and the police, has launched a series of devices that will concern both vehicular traffic and pedestrian access in some areas of the city".

In particular, on October 11 and 12, a so-called “reserved” area will be established, prohibited to vehicular and pedestrian traffic, which will be accessible only to residents and guests of accommodation facilities located nearby. This is via Califano and via Correale, in the stretch of road between the intersection of via Rota and via Califano and the intersection of via Correale and via Califano and, unless otherwise provided by the public safety authority regarding pedestrian traffic, via Correale from the intersection with piazza Tasso to the intersection with via Califano and piazza Angelina Lauro, at the height of the public gardens.

In detail, the ordinance, signed by the commander of the local police, Rosa Russo, in force from 7 am on October 11th to 19 pm the following day provides for: the institution of a ban on vehicular transit in Piazza Angelina Lauro. The obligation to turn right (direction Sant'Agnello) for vehicles coming from Vico II Rota and from vicolo Diramazione Rota and the obligation to turn left (direction Sant'Agnello) for vehicles coming from via della Rotonda.

The ban on vehicular transit in via Correale, in the section between the intersection with piazza Tasso up to the Lauro parking lot, with the exception of residents and authorized persons, who will be able to reach their private parking space. As for the Lauro parking lot, access will be permitted only to season ticket holders, who will be able to park only on the third floor of the structure.

Finally, the vehicles of residents in via Capasso, as well as those of season ticket holders in that street, will be able to travel along viale Nizza, via Rota, via Capasso, to reach the parking space.

The provision specifies that "holders of parking passes, falling within the areas affected by the restrictions, will be able to park their cars indifferently in all the spaces marked with blue lines. Holders of a permit for disabled people, with reserved spaces in the areas closed to transit, will be able to park in the white lines in the section of Corso Italia located next to the Armida cinema".

In recent days, however, the Administration's note highlights "the adoption of other ordinances that provide for closed gates on October 11 and 12, for all schools of all levels, including municipal and private kindergartens, for the Campo Italia, for the Don Luigi Verde playground, for the Correale Museum and for the Tuesday local market on Via San Renato, which will instead be open to the public, on October 19, for the entire day".

In Piazza Sant'Antonino, from 10 am on October 9 to 19 pm on October 12, parking will be prohibited for all vehicles. The same measure will affect, from 20 pm on October 10 to 19 pm on October 12, via Califano and via Correale, in the stretch of road between the intersection of via Rota and via Califano and up to the Achille Lauro municipal car park, piazza Lauro, including the taxi rank, via Luigi De Maio, piazza della Vittoria, via Marina Grande at the height of the Regina hotel, via Rota and via Capo at the height of the Capodimonte hotel.
