The two sculptures were stolen in 1989 from the baroque altar of the Church of San Sebastiano in Guardia Sanframondi.
Two white marble cherubs were also found, removed in 1999 from the Church of the Convent of San Francesco.
All thanks to the Carabinieri of the Operational Department for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Rome, with the coordination of the Public Prosecutor's Offices of Benevento and Rome in synergy with the French gendarmerie and with the collaboration of the ABAP Superintendency of Caserta and Benevento.
The ceremony to return the vessel to the Guardia Sanframondi community will take place tomorrow at 19:11.00 am on October XNUMXth in the church of San Sebastiano, in compliance with anti-Covid regulations, and will see the participation of civil and religious authorities together with representatives of the institutions that made the recovery operation possible.
