Countryside. The military personnel of the Colliano Forestry Carabinieri Station have released into the wild a specimen of crested porcupine "Hystrix cristata"
A private citizen, while accessing a piece of land belonging to his home, noticed the animal inside his property; the animal was clearly confused and was unable to reach the exit.
The citizen, therefore, informed the Forestry Carabinieri who, after having activated qualified personnel for the recovery of the ENPAS Salerno Zoophilic Guards, promptly went to the site.
When the military and animal protection officers entered, the male porcupine was found to be in good general condition and, once recovered, was kept in a carrier in search of a suitable habitat for release into nature.
Having identified a suitable place inside a forest, the operating personnel freed the porcupine which disappeared into the undergrowth in a few seconds.
