È Jamila the winner of the fifth edition the “Award of Prizes”, the contest that brings together the winners of Italian songwriting competitions named after deceased Italian artists.
After the Tuscan singer-songwriter, who was representing the Fabrizio De André Award, ranked second Monica Sannino (for the Bianca d'Aponte Award) and third Martha Fridge (for the Luttazzi Award), on an all-female podium.
The contest, conceived and directed by Enrico Deregibus and Giordano Sangiorgi, took place on Saturday 2 October in Piazza Nenni in Faenza, inside the Mei – Independent Labels Meeting, which promotes and supports it.
Also competing this year were Asteria (for the Bindi Prize), Marcello Graduato (for the Pigro – Ivan Graziani Prize), Nervi (for the Buscaglione Prize), and Andrea Santelli (for the Je so' pazzo Prize, dedicated to Pino Daniele).
Jamila Kasraoui, born in 2001, stage name Jamila, was born in Scandicci to an Algerian father and an Italian mother. She is a musician, writer and singer-songwriter. In 2018 her first album, completely self-produced, was released, entitled “Ego".
During her journey she met the Florentine label Ferramenta Dischi, with which she is currently under contract, and Zibba, who will be the artistic producer of “Frammenti”, the young singer-songwriter's upcoming album.
She will receive a plaque, a microphone offered by Lega Hi Fi di Faenza, and the opportunity to perform at “Acoustic Newsstand” of Grosseto and The Mbroia of Corigliano d'Otranto (in collaboration with Coolclub), as well as a passage in the television program “Internal 8” by Rete8, the leading television station in Abruzzo, and a report on Jam TV by Alex Pierro.
