A small public library that aims to promote culture and increase the sense of community: this is the objective of Little free library, the first book house inaugurated in PIMONTE, a municipality in the Naples area on the Lattari mountains. The initiative was implemented thanks to the commitment of the progressive movement Officina 21.
The little house/library, built by Raphael Somma with the help of the architect Anthony Cuomo, is located in the small square adjacent to the Town Hall.
"This first installation aims to be a driving force around which to launch many new cultural initiatives.", he claims Albert Grosso of Officina 21, and adds: “the goal is to increase sharing and the sense of community with a new perspective, carried out by the young people of Pimonte, the true wealth of our town, for this reason we wanted to involve all the Associations of Pimonte, because culture is our lowest common denominator".
"The culture – declares the mayor Michele Palummo - must be a reason and moment of unity and never of division. Our Administration has given full support to an initiative that we consider worthy and that fits perfectly into the work we are carrying out.
With the theatrical performance of the Scudo di Teia at Castrum Pini, with the creation of a portal dedicated to tourism, with the birth of the first trail race in our Municipality, with the inauguration of this Little free library and, finally, with the launch of the project for the creation of a Cultural Center of the Lattari Mountains, the conditions are being created for a cultural and tourist growth that perhaps has no precedent in our community.
The Administration is also working on the creation of a cultural center of the Lattari Mountains right in Pimonte. Around culture Pimonte can progress and – concludes – look to the future with renewed confidence and hope, for this reason collaboration in this sense must always be at its maximum".
