Napoli. Peppe Pinto, father of Ornella Pinto, who was the victim of a brutal murder at the hands of her partner, has filed a complaint with the Public Prosecutor's Office for the shameful conditions of the monumental cemetery of Poggioreale. Giuseppe told us that it has now become very difficult to go and visit his daughter:
"The avenues are bumpy and dirty, they even told me that an elderly person, walking, fell and broke her femur. In particular, the avenue where my daughter is located has become almost unusable and I often have to accompany my family members who want to go visit Ornella because they don't feel safe going to the cemetery alone, not to mention the coming and going of cars and scooters, which puts everyone's safety at risk.
I find it absurd that not even the dead can be in peace and that is why I filed a complaint with the Public Prosecutor's Office, I want to know why the cemetery is abandoned in those conditions and if there is no reason, that the decorum be restored as soon as possible", declared Giuseppe Pinto.
"This story has truly incredible implications - adds Borrelli - it is absurd that the monumental cemetery of Poggioreale, which should be the jewel in the crown of the city and which preserves the history of the men who made Naples great, is abandoned to decay. We have repeatedly denounced the disastrous conditions of the cemetery and the corruption that gravitates around Poggioreale, but little or nothing has changed, indeed, since Giuseppe's complaint, it seems that the situation has actually worsened.
Europa Verde supports and relaunches the complaint filed by Giuseppe, who as a private citizen is only asking for compliance with a state law, as the cemetery is a property protected by the superintendency and should never be found in this condition of shameful degradation and abandonment. We ask the institutions in charge to intervene to re-establish civility and normality within the cemetery”. Thus concluded Francesco Emilio Borrelli, Regional Councilor of Europa Verde.
