Naples. Tragedy narrowly avoided this morning in the Spanish Quarters where fire engines were blocked for several minutes due to cars parked illegally along the road.
“The images that reached us, filmed by a citizen, speak clearly. On Sunday morning a fire broke out in the Spanish Quarters and the firefighters' tanker was unable to find space in the alleys for the cars parked in an unauthorized manner. Furthermore, citizens reported to us, there were tourists crowded together at the entrance to Naples Underground. A highly risky situation, desired by irresponsible citizens, who continue to park their cars without caring at all about the huge risks that their arrogance can generate.
It is unacceptable to still have to deal with arrogance and wild parking! There are too many episodes in this city where fate avoids the worst, until there is a capillary control of the territory against every form of incivility and free will there will be no choice but to rely on luck.
For years we have been denouncing the conditions of the neighborhoods where only one rule applies: that everyone does what they want without caring about anything. The alleys are like traps, without rules there is a risk of carnage". This was stated by Francesco Emilio Borrelli, regional councilor of Europa Verde.
