Naples. “Let's light up NAPLES, for a Christmas that is a sign of restart and rebirth after almost two years of darkness for the economy and sociality”. Thus the president of the Chamber of Commerce of NAPLES, Ciro Fiola, presenting the lighting project of the city on the occasion of the Christmas holidays.

“We have approved a project to illuminate almost 140 kilometers of streets and 36 squares in NAPLES – he added – and from the first week of November we will be ready to turn on the lights. We are in line with the great European capitals that make the Christmas lights shine from November until after Epiphany”.

Fiola explained the philosophy of the project and the timeframe for its completion: "We started from the outskirts to get to the city centre. For the first time we are lighting up the six squares of Scampia, for example, or streets like via Santa Teresa al Museo, or via Miano. In addition to the shopping centre in NAPLES which will be even more beautiful".

The project, which is the result of a European call for proposals worth 2,2 million euros, includes the installation of classic lights, integrated with three-dimensional decorations in the main city squares. A 10-meter-high Santa Claus stands out, to be placed in Piazza Municipio, and a 40-meter-high luminescent tree in Piazza del Plebiscito.

“On these projects we are only waiting for the opinion of the Superintendency, which I believe will arrive this week – concluded Fiola – for Piazza Vittoria, where we did a temporary test, we are preparing a specific project that we will present today and which also integrates with a hypothesis for the regeneration of the square”.
