The Prefecture of Naples has ordered a ban on the sale of tickets to the "Diego Armando Maradona" Stadium to Polish residents for the Napoli-Legia Warsaw Europa League match scheduled for October 21.
Authorities consider the match to be risky: just look at the last previous match between the two teams, dating back to 2015, when there were two days of clashes at the then Stadio San Paolo, resulting in bans and the arrest of numerous Polish and Italian supporters. Today, however, Legia responded, expressing their anger at the decision in an official statement.
"Despite our efforts for over a week, the Italian authorities have banned the sale of tickets to Polish citizens for the match in Naples," reads the statement translated by the Tuttonapoli.net portal. "We consider these actions completely unjustified and discriminatory.
The club's activities are supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland and the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Rome. We consider this decision absolutely scandalous, unjustified, and contrary to the spirit of sport, which grants our fans the full right to support the team on away matches.
"We have sent another letter to the relevant authorities regarding this matter and expect an appropriate response," the Polish club added. "We would also like to inform you that Legia Warsaw is ready to host Napoli fans at its stadium, which is fully prepared in terms of organization."
