Afragola. An explosive device was detonated outside an Eni Store on Corso Vittorio Emanuele in Afragola yesterday evening, shortly after 23pm. There were no injuries, but only damage to the external signs and the internal false ceiling. The investigations, conducted by the local police station, are looking towards the racket trail. “We are awaiting the outcome of the investigations into the disturbing bomb attack that took place on Tuesday evening in Afragola even if the origin is all too clear. We are worried about this new season of bombs and we fear that there are links to the imminent runoff to choose the mayor.

It is not the first time that firecrackers have been detonated outside businesses or homes in Afragola, a phenomenon that occurs almost every two months. The last time was last August. It is disturbing that they chose to detonate it around 23 pm when the street is still busy with pedestrians and motorists. A criminal ferocity without limits that could have caused a massacre.

A situation that is becoming increasingly unsustainable for citizens who, by now, feel at risk even simply for taking a walk in the evening. A strong response from the State is needed before some poor innocent person loses his life”. These are the words of the regional councilor of Europa Verde, Francesco Emilio Borrelli and Salvatore Iavarone, coordinator of the Northern area for Sole che Ride.

“Just yesterday I highlighted that the other two candidates for Mayor of Afragola had 'discovered' the methods and themes of my electoral campaign, including legality and the fight against the Camorra – declared Antonio Iazzetta, candidate for mayor of the centre-left.

But, perhaps, the effect of the electoral campaign has already ended since, hours after the explosion of a bomb in the city center, neither of them felt the need to make their voices heard and guarantee their commitment so that the people of Afragola will never have to deal with similar episodes again. I reiterate my commitment to bring to the City Council those proposals that we had included in our program and that we believe are necessary in a city like Afragola to fight that Camorra culture that increases the Camorra and illegality.

We believe that these are things that should not have a political color and, just like in the election campaign, we hope to find full unanimity in the City Council".
