A marble manhole cover was stolen from the Domus of Sirico in the Archaeological Park of Pompeii.
The discovery was made by the staff of the Superintendency.
The marble manhole cover, circular in shape and 20 centimetres in diameter, was apparently removed between 30 September and 4 October.
The Domus of Sirico, located in Regio VII, is in an area accessible to the public and recently undergoing restoration work. Investigations are underway by the Carabinieri of the Pompeii Station.
