Last October 15, the State officials met with the volunteers of Libera to give an important signal to the city of Portici: the institutions are present in the daily fight against the Camorra. However, the mayor preferred not to attend, as the city councilors of the Center-left and the 5 Star Movement, including Alessandro Caramiello, Mauro Mazzone, Aldo Agnello, the former mayor Leopoldo Spedaliere, Aniello Pignalosa, Raffaele Cuorvo and Rosario Frosina, jointly recall.

“What happened last Friday, October 15th at Villa Fernandes is disheartening – the political forces of the Centre-left jointly remark – the mayor of Portici, Vincenzo Cuomo, chose not to attend in an institutional manner an event organized by the Libera Portici connection, which was attended by the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Roberto Fico, the undersecretary of the Ministry of the Interior Carlo Sibilia with the aim of giving a strong message to the city: the Camorra must be fought, the strongholds of legality must be valorized and entrepreneurs must be protected.

We read in the press that the mayor declared that he had been alerted by the police regarding the event, the place and the purpose, as well as the presence of President Fico, but he still chose not to attend – they say -.

We thought it was essential to underline our commitment against the Camorra. While the mayor preferred to justify his absence by reiterating that he was not willing to form a coalition with the 5 Star Movement, forgetting, however, that the event, in any case, had as its main objective that of putting a new brick in the wall that we intend to raise against organized crime”.
