Sant'Antonio Abate. He saved €100 on his electricity bill: baker arrested for aggravated theft.
He had been saving on his electricity bill for years. Never had a price increase in “light” been able to worry a 58-year-old from Sant'Antonio Abate, owner of a bakery in the city. Thanks to the manipulation of the meter and the illegal connection to the national electricity grid, the man had managed to save about 105 thousand euros.
Money that he will probably have to return now that the local police station has discovered the trick. With a skillfully mounted switch he could activate or deactivate the consumption detection: during checks the switch was positioned so as to divert the flow of energy to the meter and when the eyes of the police were far away, the direct connection to the network was restored without any filter.
The 58-year-old was arrested for electricity theft and placed under house arrest pending trial.
