Large papier-mâché skulls were placed by unknown individuals during the night in Naples on numerous statues in the city centre, including one of the monuments to the kings of Naples on the facade of the royal palace in Piazza del Plebiscito.
The skulls have an 'x' made with black tape on their mouths and a crown of pine needles and other leaves on their heads. The night raid, which has not yet been claimed by anyone, was reportedly carried out - as far as we know - also in other cities in Italy. The unknown assailants operated in numerous places, even reaching statues placed at considerable heights.
Similar episodes occurred today, Tuesday 19 October 2021, also in other Italian cities, such as Milan, Rome, Florence, Turin, Palermo, Padua and Verona.

Michele Gaglione was sentenced to 9 years and 6 months in prison for manslaughter. Yesterday's arrest by the police adds a dark piece to Migliore's story. The military raided his home, finding evidence of what appears to be a well-organized drug dealing ring: among the findings, 10 pre-packaged doses of cocaine and crack, packaging material and a "lmaster book" with initials and numbers, likely the accounts from the illegal sale. €1.675 in cash was also seized, presumably the proceeds of the illicit activity. The September 16th investigation is not the first drug dealing investigation involving Ciro Migliore after the death of his girlfriend; already in February 2021, he was targeted by law enforcement for similar crimes.
