In a new guise, the Torchiara Story Festival, the storytelling salon which, now in its seventh edition, regularly features personalities from the world of culture, artists and narrators who meet to tell stories and tell about themselves, in the heart of the Cilento.

For three days, from 8 to 10 October , a cultural offering that rewards the territory, but at the same time the country, with its historic centers, palaces and its medieval layout, welcoming those who flock there, to offer stimuli and opportunities for reflection and comparison.

Because it is Torchiara, with its magical atmosphere, and Borgo Riccio, with its hospitality of Historical house, to create the conditions and climate so that, every year, a real forum of ideas and exchange on current issues can take place.

Organized by Matteo Foundation e Claudina DeStefano, thanks to the substantial contribution of the Campania Region - Department of Culture which has supported the project since its inception, with the patronage of the Union of Municipalities of Paestum Alto Cilento, the National Park of Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni, the BCC of Buccino and Cilento Municipalities and the Province of Salerno, the event can now count on a stronger and more reliable structure which, for more than forty years, has been operating in the social and cultural fields.

The entire event will be accompanied by Cilento Story, the literary competition of Torchiara Story Festival that debuts with a fascinating theme, leaving plenty of room for creativity: genius and wildness.

In fact, the common thread of the call for participation is intended to be a tribute to the great genius of the last century, Albert Einstein, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics a hundred years ago. Reserved for writers and photographers, the competition resumes the tradition that, in the past six years, has brought many authors from all over Italy and beyond to compete.

Also this year, the texts that the jury will have judged most interesting will be collected in a volume published by Licosia Editions .

The three-day meeting program is vast, with many special guests. Let's start Friday October 8, from 18pm, to Baronial Palace of Torchiara: after the institutional greetings of Tommaso Pellegrino, President of the Cilento National Park and Felice Casucci, Councilor for Tourism of the Campania Region, all the artists who have joined the PACC Percorsi d'Arte Contemporanea in Cilento, from the De Stefano Foundation, in collaboration with Tesi srl, will meet to tell their experiences in the project, coordinated by the journalists Peppe Iannicelli and Elisabetta Castana.

Present were Franco Alfieri, President of the Union of Municipalities Paestum Alto Cilento where the works were placed, and Rosanna Romano, General Director for Cultural Policies and Tourism of the Campania Region, together to explain the importance of investing in culture for the development of the territories.

After the tasting on the theme Art to eat, by the pastry shop The wheel of Perdifumo and the winery White Houses of Torchiara, will close the evening Gino Rivieccio with the work We were born to fry, in conversation with Alfonso Sarno, food and wine journalist.

For the second day, Saturday October 9, the works will continue with The Living Room of Stories, always at Baronial Palace of Torchiara, for a celebration of Dante Alighieri, in a completely original and decidedly out of the ordinary form, starting with Il Divino Intreccio, edited by Raffaele Aragona and Stefano Tonietto who will present, in a national preview, a rewriting of the Inferno, conducted in compliance with Dante's language and its metrics, in an Oplepian key.

The Comedy of Errors which will see Aragona interpret some verses of the Divine Comedy, in a duet with Emanuela Grimalda, alone with his hilarious inventions of Dante's or La cucina ignorante.

Summer of tight controls in Amalfi Coast and in Cilento, where the Salerno Financial Police has turned the spotlight on the world of tourist rentals. The toll is heavy: out of dozens of inspected properties, 68 were found to be irregular, while another 49 are still under investigation. This data captures a widespread and deep-rooted phenomenon, where illegal activities and non-compliance with regulations threaten not only the healthy economy, but also the safety and rights of workers.

The investigations uncovered operators completely unknown to the tax authorities, VAT evaders, and lacking any health and safety authorizations. Tax-exempt income exceeding €100 was also discovered, indicating a parallel system that is damaging the market and public coffers. Particularly significant is the violation of the National Identification Code, mandatory since 2025: in 34 cases, it was not requested, displayed, or communicated, effectively rendering the businesses invisible to the ministerial census.

Scam alert on holiday homes in Cilento

The beauty of the Cilento, with its breathtaking coastline and charming villages, attracts thousands of tourists every year. But, unfortunately, it also attracts scammers. Fenailp Turismo has raised the alarm about summer rental fraud, a rapidly growing phenomenon that is claiming victims in Ascea, Castellabate, Palinuro, and other towns.

The scheme is now tried and tested, exploiting users' trust and their desire to find a good deal. Scammers create fake listings on online platforms, using photos of homes that actually exist, but aren't theirs. Sometimes, the images are stolen directly from social media or other rental sites. Tourists, attracted by attractive prices and the apparent reliability of the property, pay deposits of up to €800. Disappointment and a bitter surprise come when it's time to take possession of the property: the house doesn't exist or doesn't belong to the fake landlord, who has since disappeared with the money.
