In Torre Annunziata the Carabinieri of the local company together with the Port Authority carried out a high-impact service in the Provolera district.
The main target of the operation, consumer protection: checks on commercial establishments, focus on fishmongers. However, there is no shortage of drug-related arrests.
The military inspected a commercial activity in Piazza Cesaro where 150 kilos of untraceable fish products were seized, 2 euros the fine for the owner. The same fate for a fish shop in Via dei Mille where the military found and seized 500 kilos of goods. Finally, the fishing activity in Via del Principio was also inspected. 26 kilos of untraceable and poorly preserved fish products were found and seized. The fine for the owner was 93 euros.
During the operation in the working-class neighborhood, the Carabinieri arrested Alfonso Scoppetta and Giovanna Cirillo, a husband and wife aged 35 and 33, already known to the police. The Carabinieri searched their home where the man was under house arrest for drugs and there they found and seized 16 grams of marijuana already divided into doses, packaging material and a precision scale.
Also arrested for possession of drugs for the purpose of dealing was Oreste Maresca, a 29-year-old local already known to the police. In his home, almost 20 grams of marijuana hidden in a jar for preserves along with 2.555 euros in cash that he tried in vain to get rid of by throwing it out the window. Too bad for him that the Carabinieri were also under the house and saw the scene.
In the 29-year-old's kitchen, 15 grams of cocaine and a precision scale were also found and seized.
The three arrested were transferred to prison awaiting trial.
