trecase. The project aims to redevelop and enhance a municipal green area, through the active involvement of local youth, to whom a wide range of territorial animation interventions are addressed. The green area itself, in fact, will be the main stage for environmental and cultural workshops, a course in social planning and territorial marketing, spaces dedicated to job orientation and convivial moments that will include live music, theatrical performances, urban trekking, cycle excursions, solidarity aperitifs and much more.
The initiative, promoted by the associations UNEC – National Union of Cultural Entities and Free Spirits on Tour, in collaboration with the Oratorio San Domenico Savio of Trecase and the Mestieri Campania consortium, was made
possible thanks to the synergy created with the Municipal Administration led by Mayor Raffaele De Luca.
The intervention is co-financed by the Department for Youth Policies and Universal Civil Service – Presidency of the Council of Ministers, within the Action and Cohesion Plan, in response to the call for proposals “Young people for the valorization of public goods 2018”.
"The Giovani del Vesuvio project - declared the Mayor of Trecase Raffaele De Luca at the opening - is coherently inserted into the programmatic activities of the Administration, with strategic priorities in the sectors of tourism, culture, quality agriculture, typical products and the environment. The Administration intends to encourage and accompany young people in a healthy growth, offering them an opportunity for civic and social training, which can allow them to enhance the territory and create a more responsible and cohesive society".
“The objective we have set ourselves with Giovani del Vesuvio – declared Fabio Altiero, spokesperson for the leading body UNEC – is not only to redevelop a green area, but also to create a new physical space of
aggregation for the youth of Trecase and the surrounding municipalities, we want to give the kids the opportunity to be together and discuss issues that, as an association, have always been dear to us and that represent the heart of the laboratories in the project: youth protagonism, active citizenship, ecology, critical thinking, civic sense and community spirit”.
The green space in question is the one near the municipal parking area located in via Regina Margherita, in Trecase. Here a small flowerbed of strawberries and aromatic plants was planted by the boys already active in the
project, but the space will be affected by further interventions: the creation of the "garden of Vesuvian flora", collective street art actions and the creation of an area for dog agility. But above all, the aim is to make this space a lively place of aggregation, also thanks to the collaboration of young people
of the Oratory of San Domanico Savio led by the fiery Don Federico Battaglia.
"This project is an opportunity for the territory and especially for its young people, who are addressed by the many planned activities, always and completely free of charge - declared Luciano Palomba, president of Free Sprits on Tour - we want to create moments of aggregation that are bearers of a message, that offer ideas and inspirations to young people, to experience the territory with greater awareness. The days on bicycles, the urban trekking, the social garden and even the zero-kilometer and zero-waste aperitifs will be an opportunity to be together, but also to promote a broader ecological and civil awareness".
“For the purposes of the project, in addition to social activation – says Luca Coppola, who spoke on behalf of the Mestieri Campania consortium – the topic of work will not be overlooked, which is addressed by specific orientation activities aimed at young people, with practical and informative moments, to learn about the opportunities offered by active policies, for example with the Youth Guarantee program”.
The next appointment in the green area is scheduled for Saturday 16 October, at 15 pm, for an ecological day of collective cleaning, while on Sunday 24 October at 10 am the first cycle-ride will take place, to explore Trecase aboard the eco-sustainable means of transport par excellence: the bicycle.
