Protest by workers of the Whirlpool from Naples to Rome.

A hundred protesters are marching from Termini to the Ministry of Economic Development, in conjunction with the meeting called for 10:30 between the Government, the company and the unions on the dispute. The demonstration was promoted by the unions Fim, Fiom and Uilm.

A new hearing is scheduled for October 22 at the Court of Naples on the appeal presented by Fim, Fiom and Uilm against the dismissals of the 320 workers of via Argine. The blue collar Whirlpool workers met two days ago at the company headquarters for a meeting and the will to continue with the protests emerged:

“We will resume our fight which is not over and, indeed, will be even more bitter”. “The unitary coordination of 18 October 2021, in light of the irresponsible choice of the management not to extend the dismissal procedure necessary to favor the re-employment of the 340 colleagues of the Naples site, unanimously decides to undertake the following initiatives: to call assemblies at each site to be able to update all workers on the status of the dispute and denounce the company's lack of will to support an industrialization project that presents real potential for employment continuity for all 340 employees; to plan strike action in each plant; to call the Group Demonstration in Varese on 29 October supported by 8 hours of strike”.

Thus Fiom, Fim and Uilm, who continue: "The coordination supports the national secretariats and the territorial secretariats of Naples in maintaining the discussion table with the Ministry of Economic Development and Labor. It is necessary to know as soon as possible in detail the industrial plan of the Sustainable Mobility Hub project presented last August 6 and to see the Government's commitment to establish the Consortium confirmed by December 15"
